Brands are responding by introducing refillable options. For instance, UpCircle offers skincare products in refillable glass packaging, encouraging customers to reuse containers and reduce waste.

Similarly, The Body Shop has launched the Peptalk Lipstick in a refillable case made from 100% recycled aluminum, combining sustainability with product performance.

Challenges and Opportunities

Despite these advancements, challenges remain. A report from The Upcycled Beauty Company notes that only 14% of cosmetic packaging reaches recycling plants, with just 9% being recycled. This highlights the need for improved recycling infrastructure and consumer education.
