Spectra Supports Fuss-Free Shaving with Custom Postal Packs
Fuss Free Shaving Letterbox-Friendly Sustainable Packaging Solution
Spectra Packaging partnered with Fuss Free Shaving (FFS) to create an innovative packaging solution that delivers measurable sustainability benefits while enhancing consumer convenience and reducing distribution costs. The project involved the development of bespoke 150ml and 50ml bottles designed to a maximum thickness of just 22mm, enabling products to be delivered through standard letterboxes as large letters rather than parcels. This significantly improves fulfilment efficiency and customer convenience while lowering delivery costs. 1
The packs are manufactured using 35% Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP), helping to divert plastic waste from coastal environments and supporting a circular economy approach. In addition, production was moved from China to the UK, reducing transportation emissions, strengthening supply chain resilience and supporting local manufacturing. 1
Working closely with FFS, Spectra also addressed challenges associated with the previous packaging format, including poor flexibility, dispensing difficulties and inconsistent decoration quality. The redesigned packs are easier to use, more flexible, refillable and deliver a significantly improved consumer experience without compromising the strict dimensional requirements needed for letterbox delivery. 1
Future production runs will transition from labels to direct silk-screen printing, further improving recyclability and eliminating label waste. The result is a commercially viable packaging solution that successfully combines material innovation, sustainability, functionality and consumer-centric design. This project demonstrates how thoughtful packaging engineering can reduce environmental impact while creating tangible benefits for brands, retailers and consumers alike. 1
