UK government ‘considering delaying EPR rollout’
According to The Telegraph, the UK government is contemplating a potential delay in the rollout of extended producer responsibility (EPR) measures.
The newspaper reported that government officials are engaging in discussions regarding the potential delay of implementing these legislative changes.
DEFRA has stated that it remains committed to advancing the EPR scheme, but emphasized its ongoing practice of reviewing plans in collaboration with all four administrations across the UK.
Ecosurety, the compliance scheme responsible for producer responsibility in the packaging sector, expressed doubt about the scheme’s ability to be implemented within the expected timeframe.
