Viscose and Isle Of Wight Distillery: A Sustainable Packaging Success Story
Innovative Solutions for Growth and Environmental Conservation
PRODUCT CASE STUDY: Isle Of Wight Distillery X Viscose
Founded by Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett in 2014, the Isle of Wight Distillery stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability on the picturesque Isle of Wight. As the island’s first and only distillery, their journey has been marked by a commitment to crafting premium spirits that reflect the natural beauty of their surroundings.
The Challenge:
Driven by their passion for environmental conservation, the Isle of Wight Distillery sought packaging solutions that mirrored their ethos of sustainability. With a focus on initiatives such as supporting seagrass restoration and achieving B Corporation status, they needed packaging that not only maintained product integrity but also aligned with their environmental goals while accommodating their growth trajectory.
Viscose Steps In:
Enter Viscose, ready to take on the challenge. Initially, Viscose provided natural, plastic-free shrink sleeves for the Distillery’s Mermaid Gin bottles. However, as the Distillery expanded, hand-applying these sleeves became impractical. Thus, the need arose for a solution that could be machine-applied and shrink in seconds.
The Solution:
Viscose rose to the occasion with PLA heat-shrink sleeves, derived from renewable sources and industrially compostable, ensuring both sustainability and efficiency. Paired with elegantly crafted bartops made from wood and 100% natural cork, adorned with the iconic Mermaid Gin design, Viscose delivered a solution that ticked all the boxes.
The Verdict:
The partnership between Isle of Wight Distillery and Viscose has been nothing short of transformative. In the words of the Distillery themselves, “We’ve worked with Viscose for many years and grown with them as a company… To have the opportunity to work together and transfer the necessary skills and knowledge… proves the length Viscose will go to for their customers and for that we are grateful.”
In conclusion, the collaboration between Isle of Wight Distillery and Viscose stands as a testament to the power of partnership in driving sustainability forward, benefiting both businesses and the planet.
