Kith is one of the hottest fashion brands of the moment, a label known for its collaborations and elevated in-line fashion collections. For their Kith Air fashion show at this year’s New York Fashion Week, Kith teamed up with Don Julio 1942 to design a custom invitation to their show. The Kith team designed a limited edition 1942 1.75L El Jefe tequila bottle and case. Given our history of partnership with Diageo, GPA Luxury were invited to produce these custom cases. The end result is a long, slim wooden case with retractable handles and a lid held closed with metal clasps. The wooden frame is wrapped in black leather material, which we stamped with gold foil to create the Don Julio and Kith branding. Colour-matched to this foiling are the clasps, handles and piano hinges on the lid. As both handles slot into recesses and lie flat, the case can be set on either end, or sit lengthways. Inside the case, the bespoke bottle of 1942 , sits in a deep EVA fitment; opposite, in the lid, the invitation is held. The whole interior of the case, including the bottle fitment, is lined with black suede printed with Kith's signature monogram pattern. For the finishing touches, we stamped the Don Julio logo in gold foil on the inside of the lid, and added a black ribbon attachment to the fitment to enable easy removal of the bottle. We’re pleased to say that Kith and Don Julio were delighted with the finished result – and that these became the most coveted invite at New York Fashion week.

This latest innovation can replace traditional plastic make-up compact and features a magnet free and removable mirror design. Knoll Packaging introduced Knoll Ecoform onto the market over 5 years ago to eliminate plastics and drive positive change through design innovation. Knoll Ecoform is a plant material made from bamboo, wood and sugar cane fibers. The material is certified recyclable in the paper recycling stream, and can be molded, cut to order and color matched. Knoll has worked with the world’s leading brands to implement the sustainable material and push its boundaries to new limits with 100% pulp packaging solutions. The latest and biggest evolution with the material is the launch of 100% molded pulp compacts for make-up. The unique design took over 2 years of research and development to launch onto the market. The compact has a smooth luxury feel and finish and is fully customizable, including embossing and stamping or added FSC paper mask for additional decoration. The most groundbreaking element of the design is a magnet-free closure and removable mirror.

We often receive inquiries about the environmental friendliness of foil. In essence, foil is an exceedingly sustainable print finish, surpassing many industry standards. To clarify, what is commonly termed "foil" is actually a decorative aluminum transfer material, applied to various substrates such as paper, with hot-stamp foiling being the most prevalent method. This decorative layer is incredibly thin—6,000 times thinner than a human hair. To illustrate, the aluminum used for a single coffee capsule could adorn an area equivalent to five parking spaces if used as transfer material. The foil layer itself is recyclable, compostable, and free of harmful substances. When applied to a recyclable substrate, the recyclability of the substrate remains unaffected. In fact, during the recycling process, the foil layer is removed when the paper is deinked. Our foil rolls are supported by a PET carrier sheet, which contains the decorative transfer layer. PET is free of hazardous substances and remains a valuable raw material within the industrial waste cycle, facilitating its reuse. Through RECOSYS®, surplus carrier materials from the graphic industry can now be transformed into recycled PET (rPET), which is used in the production of plastic bottles, packaging, and various other applications. We are currently the industry's sole manufacturer capable of converting the PET carrier of our ultra-thin transfer decorations into valuable raw materials. Our long-term vision is to recycle all our products to create new carrier materials, enabling us to achieve a truly circular economy where excess materials are no longer discarded.
