A PCF measures the embodied carbon or greenhouse gas emissions associated with a service, product, or packaging across its life cycle. PCFs measure the global warming potential (GWP) which is reported as kilogram of carbon dioxide equivalent (kg CO2eq). What is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)? A LCA measures both the GWP and a range of other environmental impacts of a service, product, or packaging across its life cycle. Environmental impact can be measured through several indicators like water usage, land usage, human toxicity, eutrophication, and ecotoxicity (and many more).
