Coca-Cola, McDonald’s & M&S Food detail sustainability push
Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and M&S Food have reiterated their sustainability credentials and goals during a lively discussion at CCEP headquarters.
Speaking at a media event organised and hosted by Coca-Cola Euro-Pacific Partners (CCEP), Joe Franses, vice-president of sustainability at CCEP, said in the last five years the bottler has invested to make a significant shift away from using oil-based virgin plastic.
“There are two global Coca-Cola goals that are pretty audacious: one is to collect a can or bottle for everyone that we sell, and the other one is making sure we get to 25% of our global volume in reuse by 2030. The priority has to be ‘do more, go faster’.”
McDonald’s has said that by 2024 all its packaging should be renewable, recycled or certified, and all the waste in its restaurants should be recycled or composted.
