Environment Agency to Join Defra and PackUK at London Packaging Week 2025
The Environment Agency will participate in London Packaging Week 2025, with a drop-in clinic at Stand B56 in the Food & Consumer Pack, to spotlight its role in packaging regulation and environmental enforcement. Their presence will complement Defra and PackUK, who are co-hosting a key session titled “How Packaging Will Pave the Way to a Circular Economy” on 15 October. Defra’s senior representatives, including Emma Bourne OBE and Claire Delaney, are expected to share insights on policy implementation and resource efficiency.
Defra and PackUK will lead discussions on major reforms including packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Simpler Recycling, and the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS). The Environment Agency will contribute by clarifying enforcement priorities and supporting businesses in meeting environmental obligations. Their experts will be there to engage directly with industry professionals to promote compliance and sustainable practices.
PackUK will also be available at Stand C54 to offer support to wider industry and particularly packaging producers as they navigate their way through the packaging EPR scheme.
Together, these organisations aim to enhance collaboration between government, regulators and industry leaders. Their joint presence will highlight the importance of clear regulation, innovation, and readiness as the UK packaging sector adapts to new sustainability standards and circular economy goals.
