Rowse’s innovative Paper Snap & Squeeze single-portion honey sachet, designed as a mess-free, recyclable solution for various settings, has received a prestigious Gold medal at The Grocer’s New Product & Packaging Awards. The accolade was granted under the ‘Food on the go’ category, recognizing the product’s innovation and sustainability in packaging design.

Available in 14g and 22g sizes, the Paper Snap & Squeeze offers maximum convenience with its fold-and-snap action, facilitating easy and mess-free dispensing in food-to-go applications and recipe boxes. Praised by the judging panel for its “simple and effective concept,” the sachet is currently featured with porridge at Pret A Manger stores across the UK.

Samantha Mac Namara, senior brand manager at Rowse Honey, highlighted the product’s sustainability, stating, “Rowse Paper Snap & Squeeze has fantastic sustainability credentials. Made from paper, it is fully recyclable and consistent with our sustainability strategy of reducing waste to landfill and limiting our environmental footprint.”

Mac Namara emphasized the versatility of Paper Snap & Squeeze, presenting it as an ingenious, hygienic, and highly convenient way to provide single servings of 100% pure and natural Rowse honey in various settings, from cafés and restaurants to canteens, delis, hotels, hospitals, and food boxes. She also anticipates its popularity among families, commuters, and those on the go, thanks to its ideal portion control and portability.

The Gold Medal at The Grocer’s Awards reflects Rowse’s commitment to addressing both convenience and sustainability concerns. Mac Namara expressed delight at the recognition, noting that the product’s development was driven by customer and consumer feedback.

In a related effort to enhance honey packaging, Breitsamer Honig has introduced a flip-top lid closure to the screw cap of its jars, aiming to minimize contact between the lid and honey, preventing sticking between uses.

The article also mentions the UK Packaging Awards 2023, where the recycle-ready flowpack for Cathedral City grated cheese was named the ‘Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year.’ Developed by Amcor and Saputo Dairy UK, the pack boasts a 47% reduction in the carbon footprint compared to its previous design.
